About the Championship

The MGCC Thoroughbred Sportscar Championship started life as MGA racing back in the early 1970's. In those days the club filled the grid with MGA's and some really competitive close racing was enjoyed. During the 80's it became more difficult to maintain the grids and it was decided to invite other British sportscars of the 50's, 60's and 70's to join us and the format was set for the great inter-marque racing you see today. In the first year of the new format we linked with the Aston Martins and saw the beginning of many years of spectacular grids and races. We know from the many comments that spectators love the format, which has now developed into a blend of MG's, Aston's, TVR's, Healey's ,and TR's to name but a few. We now believe the we are set for what will be another great season of exciting racing and are pleased to let you know that after a short break we have renewed the link with AMOC Racing. Our championship can be seen at the MGCC, some AMOC and the very popular May BARC Brands meetings. Those of us who have raced against other Marques in the MGCC Thoroughbred Championship know that it is competitive and exciting and we would welcome any new like-minded racer's to join us.
